Pulsar 220:-
Indain bike market is going to be a scorcher in 2007 with a slew of launches planned. According to a report by Moneycontrol, as many as 60 new bike models are lined up for launch in the next calendar year by new and existing players alike as they seek to consolidate their position in the fast growing domestic motorcycle market. Players such as Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto and Suzuki Motorcycles have firmed up plans to roll out between 8-12 new bikes each, while Kinetic, TVS, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, and Yamaha plan to launch between 3-5 each in 2007. New brands will also be entering the market next year with Chinese firms firming up launch plans as well as several electric bike makers set to go full throttle. The Guangzhou Motor Company recently signed a technology partnership pact with Kolkata-based Xenitis Group to launch its bikes in India early next year. Another Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Zongshen Motorcycle Company has tied up with the Salim Group for its two-wheeler project in West Bengal. These Chinese bikes are sure to give sleepless nights to Indian manufacturers on the pricing front however it will be difficult for them to match with the large service network of the Indian counterparts. Further, electric bike makers including Hero Group/Ultra Motors and Electrotherm are set to sell their products from next year. According to analysts, with margins at the entry-level (100 cc segment) segment being wafer-thin, most of the new launches are likely to be in the higher engine capacity segments

History of Automobiles

The first Motorcycle was first manufactured way back in the 1950s; after which the motorcycle industry has seen a considerable amount of demand in the country. After the partition in the year 1954 the Indian government first ordered around 800 motorcycles for the Indian army to be posted at the borders. The Bullet which was originally launched in England with a 350cc is said to first bike of those days which after a year or so was upgraded to 500cc. After which bikes have seen many minor and cosmetic changes over the years. Thus the Enfield bullet was among the first two wheelers to hit the Indian roads and since then it has been the passion for most motorcycle lovers.
By definition an automobile or car is a wheeled vehicle that carries its own motor and transports passengers. The automobile as we know it was not invented in a single day by a single inventor. The history of the automobile reflects an evolution that took place worldwide. It is estimated that over 100,000 patents created the modern automobile. You can point to the many firsts that occurred along the way to producing the modern car; and with that goal in mind, highlighted below are articles, biographies, timelines, and photo galleries related to the history of the automobile and its many inventors. Several Italians recorded designs for wind driven vehicles. The first was Guido da Vigevano in 1335. It was a windmill type drive to gears and thus to wheels. Vaturio designed a similar vehicle which was also never built. Later Leonardo da Vinci designed a clockwork driven tricycle with tiller steering and a differential mechanism between the rear wheels.
A Catholic priest named Father Ferdinand Verbiest has been said to have built a steam powered vehicle for the Chinese Emperor Chien Lung in about 1678. There is no information about the vehicle, only the event. Since Thomas Newcomen didn't build his first steam engine until 1712 we can guess that this was possibly a model vehicle powered by a mechanism like Hero's steam engine, a spinning wheel with jets on the periphery. Newcomen's engine had a cylinder and a piston and was the first of this kind, and it used steam as a condensing agent to form a vacuum and with an overhead walking beam, pull on a rod to lift water. It was an enormous thing and was strictly stationary. The steam was not under pressure, just an open boiler piped to the cylinder. It used the same vacuum principle that Thomas Savery had patented to lift water directly with the vacuum, which would have limited his pump to less than 32 feet of lift. Newcomen's lift would have only been limited by the length of the rod and the strength of the valve at the bottom. Somehow Newcomen was not able to separate his invention from that of Savery and had to pay for Savery's rights. In 1765 James Watt developed the first pressurized steam engine which proved to be much more efficient and compact that the Newcomen engine. The first vehicle to move under its own power for which there is a record was designed by Nicholas Joseph Cugnot and constructed by M. Brezin in 1769. A replica of this vehicle is on display at the Conservatoire des Arts et Metiers, in Paris. I believe that the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D. C. also has a large (half size ?) scale model. A second unit was built in 1770 which weighed 8000 pounds and had a top speed on 2 miles per hour and on the cobble stone streets of Paris this was probably as fast as anyone wanted to go it. The picture shows the first model on its first drive around Paris were it hit and knocked down a stone wall. It also had a tendency to tip over frontward unless it was counterweighted with a canon in the rear. the purpose of the vehicle was to haul canons around town.

Famous Automobiles Makers: -
The men and women behind the over 100,000 patents that created the modern automobile. Biographies include for example: Karl Benz, the German mechanical engineer who designed and in 1885 built the world's first practical automobile, and Henry Ford, who improved the assembly line for automobile manufacturing and invented a car transmission mechanism, and others.
